3 Bangladeshi peacekeepers were killed in bomb blasts in Africa’s Mali. Four more people were injured in the incident.

This is stated in a circular on Sunday by the Army Inter-Services Public Relations Department (ISPR).

The deceased are – Sergeant Altaf, Lance Corporal Zakirul, Sainik Monwar. All of them were working in UN peacekeeping missions. The injured were Major Jadeed, Infantry (Dhaka), Corporal Mohim, Patrik (Noakhali), Sainik Sabuj, Parvatik (Naogaon) and Sainik Sarwar, the Infantry (Jessore). The injured were shifted to the Gaon town for better treatment.

The ISPR said in the notification that on September 23, the peacekeepers in Mali had a clash with terrorists with Bangladeshi peacekeepers. In this the peacekeepers successfully resisted them. In the same sequence, they were again attacked by terrorists after returning to the camp after performing their duty. With courage and success, they again resist terrorists. But at one stage of the clash, three Bangladeshi peacekeepers were killed and four others were injured in the explosion of the improvised explosive device (IED) buried in terrorists.
