Bangladesh has been elected to the UNESCO Executive Board for the third time
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Bangladesh has been elected a member of the executive board of UNESCO by voting for the third time in the country as a result of successful diplomatic engagement.
After reaching the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday at the 39th General Conference of UNESCO, he said this to the officials at the VIP lounge.
Education Minister said Bangladesh will work as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board for the forthcoming 2017-2021 period. Bangladesh member of the 184 constituencies of Bangladesh got 144 votes in the elections.
When Education Minister reached the airport, he was received by Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Madrasa Division. Alamgir, additional secretary of secondary and higher education department. Aruna Biswas and Md. Mohiuddin Khan, Additional Secretary of Technical and Madrasah Department AKM Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan and Ashok Kumar Biswas, senior officials of the ministry and heads of various departments and agencies under the Ministry of Education.
It is to be noted that Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid led a high-level delegation to UNESCO’s 39th General Conference. On October 29, he left Dhaka for Paris to attend the conference.
