ASEAN’s 132 MPs claim Myanmar’s trial
More than 130 MPs from five South East Asian countries have demanded an investigation into the International Criminal Court (Myanmar) against Myanmar. A year ago, the violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine was demanded to face the trial of people responsible for Myanmar.
In a joint statement, members of the ASEAN parliament said the country’s army will face trial to stop human rights violations on Rohingya, including Rohingya, and other minorities.
MPs of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore MPs APSHC member Charles Santiago said on behalf of 132 MP, since Myanmar is reluctant and unable to investigate the matter, we are at a stage where the international community has to come forward to ensure accountability.
He further said, I express my solidarity with my 131 colleague, urging the United Nations Security Council to take the matter to justice in Myanmar international court. The people of Myanmar who have been associated with such abusive crimes must face trial. They can not be left in the future so that they can not do such a crime again.
In Rakhine last August, more than 700,000 Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh in the operation of the army. The army has killed, raped and tortured Rohingyas in the name of the operation. Referring to the violent behavior of Rohingya, the United Nations declared ethnic cleansing of the barbarous behavior. But myanmar has always denied the allegations of killing, torture and oppression of the Rohingyas.
