Commonwealth urges to stop violence in Rakhine province

Through the neutral investigation, the Commonwealth has called for the accountability of human rights abusers in northern Rakhine Province and stop all violence there and bring normalcy.

The Commonwealth of Commonwealth nations called on Friday in a joint communiqué. The announcement was made unanimously on Friday afternoon at the 25th Summit of Commonwealth Heads of Government. Khabar: BSS

It is said in the joint communiqué that member countries are urging refugees in Bangladesh to return all displaced Rohingya permanently. At the same time, member countries are also calling for creating necessary conditions for safe and permanent rehabilitation with their dignity.

Commemorating Bangladesh’s role in the Rohingya issue, Commonwealth leaders expressed full solidarity with the government and the people.

In the manifesto, Commonwealth leaders are praising Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for providing shelter to the destitute people. The heads of the government stressed the need to take steps to identify the main causes of the current crisis. They immediately emphasized the implementation of recommendations of the Coffee Anan Commission.

Referring to the agreement signed between Bangladesh and Myanmar, Commonwealth leaders urge Rohingyas to start permanent rehabilitation. Besides, they also urged the Rohingyas to honor the Myanmar society.

The government leaders expressed continued support to the UN Secretary General’s anti-militancy action plan, condemning all forms of extremism.
