The defamation suit against Rahul
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has filed a defamation suit against Congress President Rahul Gandhi in the Uttar Pradesh Deoria district fast-track court on charges of insulting Salve Moni Tripathi, a BJP leader in the state.
In the plenary session of Congress in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi pulled out the name of Narendra Modi, silent Modi and Lalit Modi in the context of corruption. He said that Modi means corrupt.
Almost immediately, the BJP protested against Rahul’s statement. Then there was a defamation suit. BJP leader of Uttar Pradesh, Salve Moni Tripathi, filed a defamatory suit against Rahul Gandhi under section 499 and 500 on Friday.
His claim, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was corrupt, Rahul injured BJP workers, as well as insulted all the people of the country.
Congress, however, is not willing to give importance to this case very seriously. They believe that the BJP is trying to stop Rahul’s face by threatening the case.
Congress general secretary Anwar Hussain said that the Congress is not afraid of the case. Congress workers ready to go to jail if needed. But the country will continue to protest in the interest of the people will be hearing on April 5.
