Pension for journalists
The government has introduced pension for journalists (accredited card-obtained) journalists, listed by the West Bengal government.
The announcement was made in a notification issued by the West Bengal government’s Information and Culture Department on Thursday.
Prior to that, in West Bengal, for the journalists, the public bus service and the half-way price of tickets were available for the nationwide railways without a hike.
It has been said in the notification that those who have worked for at least 10 years of state government recognized journalists will get a pension of Rs 2,500 per month after 60 years. The meaning of this pension will be credited to the bank account of the journalist concerned. As well as the journalist’s information and culture ministry’s identity card, they can get the same pension if you can prove the proof of 15 years of work done in the press or media after 60 years.
Welcoming the state’s initiative, the editor of the Press Club of the Calcutta Press on Provincial.
