Recommendations for the raising of images of the Rohingya massacre to the United Nations
The parliamentary committee has made recommendations on sending the booklet and documentary along with the references to the 1971 genocide, to every Bangladeshi mission abroad. Alongside, Myanmar government and army have recommended the genocide of Rohingyas to be presented to the United Nations.
At the same time, the committee recommended taking effective action on the UN to play an effective role in pushing the Myanmar government to bring back Rohingyas.
These recommendations were made at the 15th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held in the Parliament House on Tuesday. The meeting chaired the president of the committee. Dipu Moni State Minister said. Shahriar Alam, Colonel (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan, Golam Faruk Prince, Md. Sohrabuddin, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Raji Mohammad Fakhrul, Selim Uddin and Mahzabin Khaled attended the meeting.
After meeting, former commerce minister Mohammad Faruq Khan told reporters, a meeting was held in the brutal attack on Rohingya. The Committee recommends the Foreign Ministry to take a more active role in this regard so that the United Nations can play an effective role in bringing Rohingyas back.
It was informed by the ministry that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the UN General Assembly session on September 21. The Parliament’s Public Relations Office said that the Committee has recommended briefing on the genocide of 1971 and preparing short pamphlets and documentaries and sending it to each foreign mission.
It was recommended to hold an “Ambassador Conference in Bangladesh” organized by Bangladesh High Commissioner and Ambassador to Bangladesh in the meeting.
