Security Council calls for closure of violence in Arakan

The United Nations Security Council has expressed concern over the operation of the country’s armed forces on Rohingya Muslims, calling for stop violence in the Arakan state of Myanmar. Security Council on Wednesday said this concern at a meeting on the Rohingya crisis.

The council gave a statement after the meeting. It has been said that the 15-member council has expressed concern over the violence of Rakhine security forces in the news of extra violence.

Before this meeting, UN Secretary-General Antony Gutters described the Rohingya situation of Myanmar as a tragedy. He said, Myanmar authorities must end Arakan violence.

The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (RSA) has attacked 30 police posts and a Senakamp together with Rakhine on the night of August 25. The Myanmar government’s comment that 89 people, including 12 security personnel, were killed in the attack. Then the state started the military campaign.

According to the UN’s latest information, more than a thousand Rohingyas have died in the military operation. To save lives, nearly 400,000 Rohingyas have taken refuge in the border areas of Bangladesh. Most of whom are women and children.
