‘Worked on strike-rate and range-hitting’
Bangladesh’s batting mainstay Mushfiqur revealed that he worked on improving his strike-rate and range-hitting with the ICC T20 World Cup in sight, to be held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17.
Following the bilateral T20I series against New Zealand last month in which Mushfiqur had struggled like almost every other batter, he went on to train under the supervision of his childhood mentor Nazmul Abedin Fahim at BKSP before playing for Bangladesh A team in Chittagong while the players of the T20 world cup squad were off to a much needed break before the mega event, with the exception of Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“Normally I keep in touch with sir [Nazmul Abedin] and since he follows and watches the game and knows how we play and what are the possible areas of concern; and plus with him back at BKSP, one can get his guidance there [BKSP], a place where the training facilities are much better,” said Mushfiqur during the launching ceremony of a gaming app focused around the little master himself, titled: ‘Howzat- Mushy the Dependable’ at a hotel in Dhaka in the afternoon today.
“I noticed a few areas which I thought needed a bit of rectification. And those areas are the ones which sir [Nazmul Abedin] and I know better and we worked on those.
“The common aspects that we worked on, which are needed for T20 cricket, are that of – strike-rate and range-hitting. And it’s not just as individuals, everyone in the team needs improvement in these departments. So I came here [BKSP] to get a head start,” Mushfiqur added.
The launching ceremony of the app, jointly built by KPC enterprise and Turtle Solutions, was attended by Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, as the chief guest.
